Reaching the Summit: Coaching for the Gold
We will soon be watching the best athletes from all over the world compete in the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. During this time, we will hear amazing stories of perseverance, commitment and training which allowed the individuals to excel in their sport. To reach the Olympic level, each of these talented athletes had to work extremely hard but they did not get there alone. Behind each competitor is a coach who has played an important role in the success of these athletes.
According to the International Olympic Committee, a good coach is positive, enthusiastic, supportive, trusting, focused, goal-oriented, knowledgeable, observant, respectful, patient and a clear communicator.
At Summit, our coaches possess these same characteristics to ensure peak performance with top executives and management teams. Our clients are similar to top athletes who aspire to become the best at what they do.
One great example of an Olympic coach that has aided their athletes to success is Jamie Staff. Jamie originally was a BMX rider and cyclist who had personally won many gold medals, however, after years of success, he decided to move into a role that focused more on coaching others to success.
In 2010, Jamie joined the management team of the USA National cycling track sprint program to help coach competitive skills in other riders and help them to obtain their goals. Using his personal expertise and transferring that knowledge through coaching, Staff was able to lead the Olympic team to win their first gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Like Jamie Staff, we believe there are Olympic athletes hidden in all of us and with the right coaching, we can reach our peak performance and move closer to the finish line.
